Long Beach State will be getting its final tune-up this weekend before the start of the dual match season, hosting the annual Beach Tennis Winter Invite. The matches will be running from Friday-Sunday out at Rhodes Tennis Center.

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Rhodes Tennis Center will play host to the Beach Tennis Winter Invite this weekend, with Long Beach State taking on players from CSUN, Portland, and Portland State for a weekend tournament, running from Friday-Sunday. Play is scheduled to begin with doubles competition each day, starting at 11 a.m. on Friday and Saturday before a 9 a.m. start on Sunday.

The tournament will be structured in a hidden duel format, with each team playing doubles and singles against different schools each day until all four schools have competed against one another. Following the tournament, a singles and doubles winner will be declared based on results and location in the lineup, with more weight given to players in the top flights.

On Friday's opening day, the Beach will play four doubles flights against CSUN and eight singles flights, primarily against Portland State. Only the top three doubles matches and first six singles matches will earn points toward a potential tournament title, but all eight of LBSU's players will be in action this weekend, including Inbar Cohen, the freshman who recently joined the Beach as a mid-year signee.

LBSU's singles lineup will feature its lone senior, Natalia Munoz, at the top, followed by Emma Bardet at the No. 2 flight. Sadaf Sadeghvaziri will play at No. 3 for the Beach and look to continue her solid play from the fall season. Sadeghvaziri went 7-1 during tournament action, earning a No. 106 national ranking.

Wiktoria Rutkowska will play in the No. 4 singles flight for the Beach, followed by Zara Lennon, Lalita Devarakonda, and Carlota Casasampere. Making her Long Beach State debut, Cohen will play in the No. 8 spot. She will also be the only LBSU player not to face an opponent from Portland State. Since the Vikings have just seven players competing, Cohen will play against Jana Tanevska from Portland. For the rest of singles play, CSUN will take on Portland with eight matches scheduled.

LBSU's doubles teams, in flight order, will be as follows: Munoz/Lennon, Rutkowska/Bardet, Devarakonda/Casasampere, and Sadeghvaziri/Cohen. The Beach will play all four matches against pairs from CSUN while Portland and Portland State will square off in doubles play on day one.
