Late Game Effort Not Enough To Secure Win Against No. 6 Pepperdine

Long Beach State fell to Pepperdine 14-10.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A late push wasn't enough to overcome a slow start for Long Beach State Sunday, who fell 14-10 to Pepperdine in the final game of the MSPF SoCal Classic. No. 6 Pepperdine took a 9-3 lead after the first half, but the Beach fought back scoring seven goals in the second half.

    Pepperdine (11-5) started the game with a six-goal first quarter, and extended their lead to six goals at the half over No. 8 Long Beach State (10-6). The Beach battled back, outscoring the Waves 5-1 in the final quarter but the damage was done earlier in the contest.

    Rafael Real Vergara and Austin Stewart continued to impress, scoring four goals each for the Beach. Elijah Graves and Matt Morris both contributed one goal as well.
