Long Beach State went 7-1 one day two of the UNLV Fall Invitational, including another five wins in singles action. The Beach are guaranteed to finish the weekend with a pair of individual singles titles as there will be two all-LBSU finals on Sunday in flights two and three.

LAS VEGAS – Despite high winds that affected play on day two of the UNLV Fall Invitational, Long Beach State persevered and excelled with an impressive 7-1 record on Saturday. The Beach again went 5-1 in singles action and both of LBSU's doubles pairs picked up wins on a successful second day of the fall season.

"We did a great job handling the windy, blustery conditions today," said Beach head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "We stayed calm and worked our game plans. It was a strong day of tennis for us and we learned a lot."

Going into Sunday's final day of competition, Long Beach State is guaranteed two singles titles, as the No. 2 and No. 3 flights will both feature all-LBSU finals. Emma Bardet and Zara Lennon both won in straight sets in the semifinals on Saturday, and will meet in Sunday's flight two championship match. Both players defeated opponents from UNLV, essentially winning road matches to reach the final.

In flight three, Lalita Devarakanda was a 6-3, 6-3 winner to set up a meeting in the championship match with teammate Sadaf Sadeghvaziri, who was pushed to three sets in her 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 victory in her semifinal match.

In the top flight for singles, senior Natalia Munoz won her consolation bracket match, 7-5, 6-0, to reach the consolation championship on Sunday morning.

The Beach had two doubles matches on Saturday and won them both, as Munoz/Devarakonda earned an 8-1 win and Wiktoria Rutkowska/Bardet won 8-3. Both matches were in the consolation semifinals of flight one, meaning the Beach pairs will meet for the consolation title on Sunday. The team of Lennon and Sadeghvaziri got the day off on Saturday but will play in the flight two doubles title.

Play begins with doubles action at 10 a.m. on Sunday followed by the conclusion of the singles flights.
