Long Beach State women’s tennis kicks off its 2019-20 season at the UNLV Fall Invitational in Las Vegas. This is the ninth straight time the Beach has opened its fall schedule in Vegas.
LAS VEGAS – The Beach will be one of five teams competing at the Fertitta Tennis Complex this weekend, opening the fall season at the UNLV Fall Invitational. Long Beach State will compete against the host Rebels, plus Delaware, Northern Arizona, and Southern Utah. The competition will feature four singles flights and a pair of doubles flights, with action running Friday through Sunday.
Â
The Beach will have six players competing this weekend, meaning there are two individuals playing in each of the top three singles flights, and the Beach will also have three doubles teams in action. Wiktoria Rutkowska and Natalia Munoz will each be playing in the top singles flight, Emma Bardet and Zara Lennon are in flight two and Lalita Devarakonda and Sadaf Sadeghvaziri will be in the third singles flight.
Â
In doubles action, the familiar team of Munoz and Devarakonda will be in flight one, joined by the team of Rutkowska and Bardet. In the second doubles flight, Lennon and Sadeghvaziri will partner up. They will receive a first round bye, meaning they've already advanced to the semifinals on Saturday.
Â
Play begins at 10 a.m. PT each day, with doubles action going first followed by singles matches. Doubles matches will be an 8-game pro set with a tiebreaker at 7-7, and all singles matches will be best two of three sets.
