Richiani Impresses In Debut For Long Beach State Women’s Golf

Freshman Vanessa Richiani joined fellow first-time competitor Chloe Carraway and sophomore Morgan Polley competing as individuals in Palm Desert.

PALM DESERT, Calif. – After two rounds on her first day of collegiate competition, freshman Vanessa Richiani stood in the Top 5 on the leaderboard at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, shooting two-over par over two rounds and one stroke off of the tournament lead.
After carding a two-over par 74 in her first collegiate round, Richiani shaved off two strokes in her second round at the The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., picking up a birdie on her penultimate hole to shoot an even-par 72 and finish the day in a tie for second place with Valeria Mendizabal of UTEP.
Morgan Polley also competed well in her first action of 2019-20. The sophomore back-to-back rounds of five-over 77, finishing the day in a tie for 19th place.
Freshman Chloe Carraway was Long Beach State's third competitor on the day. After a first-round 78, the Tustin native had a tough second round, carding an 85 to finish the day in a tie for 41st place in the 63-player field.
With just three players, all three LBSU representatives are competing as individuals with no overall team score. The trio will finish play with a final round Sunday. Live scoring is available through http://www.golfstat.com.
