LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State picked up three places on the final day of the Couer D'Alene Resort Invitational, finishing in a tie for 10th overall with North Florida after a strong final day from the team.
Long Beach State was one of six teams in the 16 team field to shoot under 200 as a team on Tuesday, helping the Beach move up into a tie for 10th overall and finishing in front of UC Irvine, Wichita State and Northern Arizona among others.
The charge was led by team co-leaders Holland Shourds and Hannah Ko. After identical scores Monday, the pair continued to match on Tuesday, both shooting a 1-over par 72 to pace the Beach in the best rounds of the tournament for LBSU. Hunter Pate shot a 76 on the final day, as did Euna Pak to help the Beach move up the leaderboard.
Ko and Shourds each picked up 16 places and finished in a tie for 23rd at 9-over for the tournament. The hosts Gonzaga were the winners while Allysha Mae Mateo of BYU was the individual medalist.
In a busy week, the rest of the squad will get an opportunity to compete at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, competing as individuals. That tournament will begin on Saturday, September 28.
