Dominant Start For Men’s Water Polo At Inland Empire Classic

Long Beach State outscored its opponents 35-9 Saturday.
CLAREMONT, Calif.—No. 7 Long Beach State Men's Water Polo had a pair of comfortable wins Saturday at the Inland Empire Classic, beating Whittier 16-5 and Concordia 19-4. The victories pushed the Beach to 5-1 on the year.
In the opening game of the day, Long Beach had nine players score in the win against Whitter College. Senior Austin Stewart lead all scorers with four goals, extending his team lead in the category. Elijah Graves scored three times to pace the Beach, along with two goals from Quinten Osborne and Johnathan Wong. Garrett Zaan, Matt Morris, Theodoros Pateros, Aaron Arias and Andrew Goodenough all contributed with a goal as well.
The Beach controlled the first half before dominating the second half and outscoring Whittier College 9-2.
In the second game of the day, Long Beach defeated Concordia, securing a 19-4 victory over the Eagles. A second quarter explosion of seven goals helped LBSU lead 9-1 in the first half, and the Beach added an additional 10 goals to assure the win.
Stewart again led the Beach with four goals and three steals, followed by Quinten Osborne, Elijah Graves, Matt Morris, Jack Mclaughlin and Cole Dixon who all scored two. Wong, Goodenough, Zaan, Pateros and Joshua Spence all contributed a goal each to push the Beach to victory.
The Beach will play tomorrow morning against GCC rival Pepperdine at 9 a.m followed by a match up against Air Force at 2:30 p.m. The games be hosted by Redlands and will be streamed live on https://portal.stretchinternet.com/redlands/with live scoring at http://www.thefosh.net.
