LBSU Alum Kevin Techakanokboon Wins PGA TOUR Series-China Event

Former Long Beach State golfer Kevin Techakanokboon won the Nantong Championship title over the weekend, claiming his second career PGA TOUR Series-China event win. Techakanokboon defeated Stephen Lewton in a playoff to claim the victory.

NANTONG, China – Long Beach State men's golf alum Kevin Techakanokboon won his second career PGA TOUR Series-China event on Sunday, claiming the Nantong Championship in heavy rainfall. Techakanokboon bested England's Stephen Lewton in a playoff to earn the title.

Techakanokboon also won the Zhuhai Championship back on Oct. 7, 2018, giving him a pair of wins on the PGA TOUR Series-China in the span of less than eight months. As the leader going into the final round, Techakanokboon shot a 67 in his final round but was forced into a playoff by Lewton's 66. Playing through heavy rain, Techakanokboon was able to win the playoff and claim the title.

The victory gives Techakanokboon the highest World Ranking of his career, sitting in the Top 500 in the world. The 26-year-old has now finished T-6^th or better in three of his last four tournaments while playing in China. A native of Cerritos, Calif., Techakanokboon played at Long Beach State from 2011-15.
