Two Men’s Golfers Recognized As PING All-Region For Second Straight Season

Alejandro de Castro Piera was a repeat honoree and Steen Zeman was honored for his tremendous season as well.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf had two players selected as PING All-West Region, as Alejandro de Castro Piera and Steen Zeman were honored for their outstanding final seasons with the Beach.
The PING All-Region teams are presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), recognizing 25 players from each of six regions across the nation to celebrate the best golfers across the country.
Zeman and de Castro are the only two golfers from the Big West who were included in the West Region lists, highlighting a dominant season from the now four-time Big West Champions. The Beach had a dominant performance in the Big West Championship, placing one through five and winning the championship by 47 strokes, the fourth-largest margin of victory in NCAA history.
Zeman won that tournament becoming the 11th individual medalist in program history, part of a strong run of recent form that led into the NCAA Columbus Regional, where the graduate had a Top 5 finish to qualify for the NCAA Championship as an individual, rising into the Top 150 in the national individual rankings.
Zeman was also the runner-up at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in the fall, one of four Top 5 finishes in 2025-26 and 6 Top 10 finishes over the course of the year. Zeman earned All-Region for the first time in his career.
Repeating as an All-Region selection, de Castro ranked in the nation's Top 50 individually on the way to Big West Player of the Year honors. The senior had a stroke average under 70 at 69.6 for the year, was 61 strokes under par over 12 tournaments. In those 12 tournaments, de Castro finished in the Top 10 nine times, in the Top 5 six times, and won the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in a comprehensive season as one of the team leaders for Long Beach State.
The pair represented two selections for Long Beach State for the second straight year, as de Castro and Charlie Forster were recognized last season. The Beach has had an All-Region selection in five of the last six seasons.
