Women’s Tennis Drops Fresno State For Second Road Win Of The Weekend

Long Beach State was a 4-1 winner in Fresno.
FRESNO, Calif. – Long Beach State finished off an unbeaten weekend on the road by dropping Fresno State 4-1 the day after a conference win on the road at UC Davis.
"I'm very proud of our team," said head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "They persevered for two strong road wins as we continue in our preparation for the Big West Tournament."
Long Beach State (13-4) continued their strong doubles play, once again taking the point behind Natalia Munoz and Lalita Devarakonda. The duo won 6-0 over Shir Azran and AC Hummel to win the first doubles match against Fresno State (8-10) and improve to 12-2 in dual match play.
Zara Lennong and Emma Bardet then claimed the point with a 6-1 win over Jane Ellis and Deniza Marcinkevica.
Devarakonda continued her excellent day by taking the first singles match of the day, winning 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 over Ella Husrefovic. Lennon beat Georgia Lawson 6-3, 6-0 to put the Beach within striking distance of the victory.
Fresno State would take one match, with Arzran dropping Bardet at No. 2 just before the completion of the match when Sadaf Sadeghvaziri won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6 against Marcinkevica to seal the win.
Long Beach State finishes off the regular season with two more road matches. The Beach will face Loyola Marymount on the road on April 17 before finishing Big West play at UC Irvine in the Black and Blue Rivalry on April 19.
