Impressive Debut Nets Jacey Bourgeois Big West Freshman Of The Week Honors

Playing in her first two games of the season, Bourgeois hit .500 while helping the Beach to a pair of road wins.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Catcher Jacey Bourgeois was named the Big West Freshman of the Week after an impressive collegiate debut on the road at Cal Poly this weekend.
Bourgeois missed an extended portion of the season due to injury, but made the most of her opportunity after getting a start in game two of the Cal Poly. Shining in that game, Bourgeois went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, a run scored, a walk and a stolen base.
Following that performance, Bourgeois was behind the dish again in the finale, going 1-for-3 to finish the series hitting .500 and helping her pitchers allow just one run in her two starts.
With the Big West Freshman of the Week award added this season, Bourgeois becomes the first honoree from Long Beach State to earn the honor.
