No. 10 Beach Volleyball Set to Close Out the Regular Season Against Three Nationally-Ranked Opponents

Long Beach State plays its final home match on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 10 Long Beach State beach volleyball team will close out the regular season this week against a trio of nationally-ranked opponents in No. 19 Saint Mary's, No. 15 Grand Canyon, and top-ranked UCLA.
The Beach will play their final home match of the regular season on Tuesday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at the LBSU Sand Courts as they host Saint Mary's. Prior to the match, Long Beach State will recognize its five seniors in Kendra Koelsch, Zoi Konstantopoulou, Megan Kruidhof, Allie Loitz, and Alexis Patterson.
Long Beach State will then take on Grand Canyon and UCLA in Westwood on Saturday, April 20. The LBSU-GCU match will begin at noon, before the Beach take on the Bruins at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Beach are looking to get back on the winning track after dropping a pair of matches last week to No. 2 USC (5-0) and No. 12 Cal (3-2). At USC, Long Beach State dropped a five-set contest, before returning home to host Cal in a close 3-2 decision.
ABOUT THE BEACH
• Long Beach State is 17-7 on the year after having dropped the two contests last week.
• The Beach slipped from No. 9 to No. 10 in the AVCA National Rankings after going 0-2 last week.
• Long Beach State is 4-7 this season when playing nationally ranked teams.
• The Beach are led by the No. 1 flight of Megan Kruidhof and Mari Molina who are 18-6 on the year.
ABOUT SAINT MARY'S
• No. 19 Saint Mary's comes into the match against Long Beach State with a 17-6 overall record.
• The Gaels are on a four-matching winning streak.
• SMU is coming off of a pair of wins over Santa Clara (5-0, 4-1), as well as Pacific (5-0), and most recently, No. 20 Stanford (5-0).
• The Gaels are 5-2 when playing on the road this season.

• Grand Canyon is ranked No. 15 and is 19-8 on the year.
• The Lopes have won their last two matches against UAB (4-1) and Santa Clara (5-0).
• GCU will play at No. 2 USC and against No. 7 Cal Poly on Thursday, before going up against UCLA and LBSU on Saturday.

• Defending NCAA National Champion, UCLA, is the No. 1 ranked team in the country with a 26-1 record.
• The Bruins' lone loss of the year came at the hands of No. 2 USC on April 7, when UCLA fell 3-2.
• UCLA boasts a perfect 4-0 record when playing at home.
UP NEXT
Following the conclusion of the regular season, Long Beach State head to Zuma Beach in Malibu for the Big West Conference Tournament which will feature all seven teams in a double-elimination tournament on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.
