Beach Golf Ties UC Irvine in Black & Blue Rivalry Match

Long Beach State and UC Irvine each pulled in three points in Thursday’s Black & Blue Rivalry match at Old Ranch Country Club. The Beach remain unbeaten in the competition between the two schools, which has run for each of the past six seasons.
SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State and UC Irvine played to a 3-3 tie in Thursday's Black & Blue Rivalry match at Old Ranch Country Club. Each team won two of the matchups and the remaining two were halved, resulting in the tie.
Junior Euna Pak had the biggest win of the day, winning her matchup 3&2 against UCI's Sabrina Li. Her lead was one after 13 holes, but Pak birdied both the Par-5 14th and 16th in order to go three up with two to play. The other winner for Long Beach State was junior Holland Shourds, who won 2&1 over Angela Bagasbas. Shourds was 4-up after the front nine, and maintained a lead the rest of the round until reaching the 18th with a two-hole lead.
The other point came from two matchups that were halved, as Cara Barker and Hannah Ko tied with Maddie Riggs and Sienna Lyford, respectively.
The Beach will return to the golf course on Monday, Apr. 15 at the Big West Championship at Moorpark Country Club. The three-day championship tournament will conclude with Wednesday's final round.
