No. 9 Long Beach State Travels to No. 2 USC, Hosts No. 12 Cal

The Beach play a pair of ranked teams on Thursday and Friday
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 9 Long Beach State beach volleyball team is back in action this week after having a week hiatus. The Beach will travel to No. 2 USC on Thursday, April 11 for a 1 p.m. match up, before hosting No. 12 Cal on Friday, April 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the LBSU Sand Courts.
LAST TIME OUT
Long Beach State extended its winning streak to nine games before dropping a 5-0 decision to then-No. 6 Hawaii. The Beach had a strong showing at the Big West Challenge as they went 5-1 defeating CSU Bakersfield (5-0), No. 7 Cal Poly (4-1), Sacramento State (5-0), CSUN (5-0), and UC Davis (5-0).
ABOUT THE BEACH
• Long Beach State is 17-5 on the year after winning 11 of its last 12 matches.
• The Beach stayed ranked No. 9 in the AVCA Coaches Poll after going 5-1 in the Big West Challenge at the end of March.
• LBSU's pair of Mari Molina and Megan Kruidhof were named Big West Conference Pairs Team of the Week (4/1) after they went 7-1 on the week as they moved from the No. 2 pairs team to the top flight.
• Long Beach State is 10-1 when playing at home this season.
ABOUT USC
• No. 2 USC brings a 20-4 record in to the contest against Long Beach State.
• The Trojans are on a four-match winning streak after having picked up victories over Cal (5-0), Stanford (4-1), UCLA (3-2), and Washington (5-0) last week.
• USC is 4-1 when playing at Merle Norman Stadium this season with their lone loss coming on February 27 against top-ranked UCLA.
ABOUT CAL
• No. 12 Cal is 16-5 on the year as the Bears are coming off of a pair of wins over Washington (4-1) and Stanford (3-2) last week.
• The Bears have played well on the road posting a 5-2 road record, but are playing even better at home boasting a perfect 7-0 mark.
• Cal is 1-2 against Big West Conference opponents this season as they get ready to play LBSU on Friday before taking on Cal Poly on Saturday.
