Tennis Rolls To 6-1 Win Over Weber State

The Beach is back in action Saturday against Cal State Fullerton.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The top half of the lineup had a very strong day for Long Beach State as the Beach defeated Weber State 6-1 on Friday.
Long Beach State (8-1) was particularly dominant in doubles on the day, cruising to the opening point. Wiktoria Rutkowska and Dominique Meyer didn't drop a set in a 6-0 win in the top flight over Yuuna Ukita and McKenna Lloyd. Emma Bardet and Zara Lennon sealed the win with a 6-1 win at No. 3, and Natalia Munoz and Lalita Devarakonda were up 5-1 when doubles was halted.
Carrying that momentum into singles, the Beach quickly clinched the match against Weber State (9-6). Sadaf Sadeghvaziri was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Lloyd in the first match completed followed by Bardet who defeated Ukita 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 for the second point in singles.
Munoz then sealed the victory with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Cali Fuller at No. 3. Devarakonda was a straight sets winner over Morgan Dickason, 6-1, 6-4, and Rutkowska was a 6-4, 6-4, winner in the top flight.
The only full set loss on the day came at No. 4 for Zara Lennon, who fell 6-1 in the first set but bounced back for a 6-2 win in the second against Megan Lombardi. Lombardi then won the super-tiebreaker 11-9 with the dual's conclusion decided.
Long Beach State will be right back in action tomorrow, facing Cal State Fullerton on the road as the Beach tries to stay unbeaten in Big West play during their first road conference match.
