
Kemonie Briggs will Represent Long Beach State at the NCAA Indoor Championships

LONG BEACH, CALIF. – Long Beach State senior jumper Kemonie Briggs will represent the Beach at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Alabama at the Birmingham Complex. Briggs will compete in the men's long jump which will take place Friday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m. PT. The competition will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

Briggs performance and school-record jump of 7.80 (25-07.25) earlier this season at the Don Kirby Invitational, hosted by New Mexico is the mark that earned him a spot at the Indoor Nationals. His jump ranks him 16th in the nation, securing the final spot to advance to the championships.

"Kemonie is making an impact with our team in ways we did not anticipate," said Long Beach State coach Andy Sythe.

Briggs is scheduled to leave for Birmingham Complex on Wednesday, March 6 and will spend the next few days preparing himself for competition. He is scheduled to practice and get adjusted to the two-hour time difference on Thursday, as well as get acquainted with the runway and long jump pit so that he can take flight on Friday.

Among the Big West schools who competed in the MPSF Championships, Briggs was the only athlete to punch a ticket to his first Indoor Championships.

Following an outstanding season, Briggs will finish up his indoor career on Friday and begin his final collegiate outdoor season for the Beach.
