Kemonie Briggs Finishes Strong at the NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala- Long Beach State senior jumper Kemonie Briggs got the opportunity of a lifetime, earning himself a spot at the Division I NCAA Indoor Championships where he qualified in the men's long jump.
 
Briggs prepared for the biggest indoor meet of the season, making the most of his experience at the Birmingham Complex, and on Friday afternoon showcased his talents on the runway.
 
Going up against the nation's top athletes, Briggs jumped a mark of 7.45m (24-05.25) in the men's long jump to finish 14th overall and earned himself an All-American title. 
 
In the seniors' final year, he was able to soak it all in and enjoy his first-ever appearance at the indoor nationals. Briggs determination and consistency over the years, has brought him to one of the highest levels of competition of his career thus far.
 
Briggs continues to hold the school-record as well as the leading jump of 25-07.25 in the Big West Conference.
 
With the indoor season officially at an end, Briggs will begin his outdoor season and compete in the long jump as well as the sprints. The Long Beach native's goal of making it to the outdoor nationals still remains.
