Play was halted late in round two at the Sacramento State Invitational with Long Beach State in second place on the team leaderboard. Senior Joe Fryer is tied for third place and just two shots off the lead based on unofficial results when play was stopped.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – After day one of the Sacramento State Invitational at Valley Hi Country Club, Long Beach State sits near the top of the team leaderboard and has two golfers among the top five on the plater leaderboard. The Beach had the best score in the field in round one, shooting 7-under as a team, and currently sit in second place as play was suspended due to darkness late in round two.

With results unofficial at the point of the stoppage, Long Beach State is six shots off the lead as a team, shooting 12-under for the tournament so far. Senior Joe Fryer is in a tie for third place and just two shots off the lead at -7 for the tournament. Junior Hunter Epson is just one shot behind his teammate, sitting in fifth with a score of -6 for the event so far.

Epson's first round led the way for Long Beach State as his 4-under 68 had him in a tie for third overall. That helped propel the Beach to the lowest team score after 18 holes, one shot ahead of Big West rivals Cal State Fullerton. Epson made six birdies in his first round and ended his day in round two with an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole.

Fryer has been completely clean through his first 33 holes played, recording seven birdies and 26 pars without a bogey to his name. He made consecutive birdies on Nos. 3 and 4 before his second round was cut short, and he will look to roll that momentum into Tuesday's action where he remains in striking distance to win this event for the second year running.

Freshman Bryce Kvick has also had a nice tournament thus far, checking in tied for 15th with 20 holes left to play. He matched his career-best round with a 2-under 70 over his first 18 holes and has been even par so far in round two.

Action resumes at 8:30 a.m. in Sacramento with the end of round two, followed by the final 18 holes which may be impacted by the rain in Northern California.
