No. 9 LBSU Beach Volleyball Earns Two Wins on Final Day of Belmont Shore Challenge

The Beach picked up a 4-1 win over No. 14 Stanford and swept Colorado Mesa, 5-0
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 9 Long Beach State earned a pair of convincing victories on the final day of the Belmont Shore Challenge. The Beach started the day with a 4-1 win over No. 14 Stanford and wrapped up the tournament with a 5-0 sweep of Colorado Mesa on Saturday afternoon at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach.
The Beach (10-4) extended their winning streak to four and have now won six of their last seven matches. Meanwhile, the Cardinal dropped to 5-8, while the Mavericks fall to 3-6 on the year.
LBSU received several solid showings on the day. Against Stanford, the Beach were led by Nicci Reinking and Zoi Konstantopoulou who defeated the Cardinal's top pair, 21-18, 21-16. At No. 5, Claire Newlander and Sophie Major picked up a 21-18 and 21-11 victory over Chelsea Mohl and Kat Anderson.
The pairs of Reinking/Konstantopoulou and Newlander/Major continued their stout performances in the match against Colorado Mesa as the top flight won, 21-14 and 21-16, while the No. 5 dup earned a 21-9, 21-7 victory.
Long Beach State never dropped a set against Colorado Mesa as the Beach rolled over the Mavericks to their fourth-straight win.
The Beach look to extend their winning streak when they host Oregon and Concordia on Wednesday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively, on the LBSU Sand Courts.
