No. 9 Beach Volleyball Has Busy Week Coming up Starting With No. 5 Pepperdine on Wednesday

Long Beach State will take on Pepperdine Wednesday, followed by four matches on Friday and Saturday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 9 Long Beach State Beach Volleyball team will have a full slate of matches this week as the Beach hosts on No. 5 Pepperdine on Wednesday, before welcoming Washington, Nebraska, No. 14 Stanford and Colorado Mesa in a weekend tournament at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach.
Following the 1 p.m. match against Pepperdine at the LBSU Sand Courts, the Beach will host a six-team tournament at Rosie's Dog Beach. The tournament schedule is as follows:
Friday, March 22
LBSU vs. Washington – 12 p.m.
Nebraska vs. Colorado Mesa – 1 p.m.
Washington vs. Colorado Mesa – 2 p.m.
LBSU vs. Nebraska – 3 p.m.
Saturday, March 23
Stanford vs. Nebraska – 9 a.m.
Washington vs. Nebraska – 10 a.m.
LBSU vs. Stanford – 11 a.m.
LBSU vs. Colorado Mesa – 12 p.m.
CSU Bakersfield vs. Washington – 1 p.m.
CSU Bakersfield vs. Colorado Mesa – 2 p.m.
LAST WEEK
Long Beach State is coming off a couple of strong performances as the Beach swept Irvine Valley College and Missouri State. The Beach played well, never having dropped a set in the two matches. The No. 1 pair of Nicci Reinking and Zoi Konstantopoulou led the way for the Beach as they rolled over their opponents by set scores of 21-7, 21-10, 21-10, and 21-8.
ABOUT THE BEACH
• Long Beach State is 6-3 on the year and are coming off of a 5-0 sweep of Missouri State.
• The Beach enter the week ranked No. 9 in the AVCA Coaches Poll after putting together a record of 6-3 on the year.
• LBSU is undefeated at home thus far as the Beach own a 4-0 record when playing at the LBSU Sand Courts.
• Long Beach State and Pepperdine will face off for the second time this season as the Beach looks to get revenge for a 4-1 loss earlier this season at Zuma Beach in Malibu.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE
• No. 5 Pepperdine brings an 11-5 record into the match against the Beach.
• The Waves are looking to get back on the winning track after having suffered a 5-0 sweep at No. 1 UCLA last week.
• The loss at UCLA snapped a five-match winning streak as the Waves had picked up a pair of wins over TCU (4-1 and 5-0), as well as Florida International (3-2), Cal Poly (3-2), and Loyola Marymount (5-0).
ABOUT WASHINGTON
• The Huskies enter the match with a 3-3 overall record
• After opening the year with three straight losses, the Huskies are now on a three-match winning streak having earned wins over Portland (4-1), Oregon (3-2), and Boise State (4-1).
• The match against the Beach will be Washington's first match since Sunday, March 10, after a 12-day hiatus for the Huskies.
ABOUT NEBRASKA
• Nebraska is 10-8 on the year and 2-1 when playing on the road.
• The Huskers are looking to snap a seven-match losing streak after going 0-7 at the Heineken Hawaii Invitational last weekend.
• At the Tournament, Nebraska dropped contests to Boise State (3-2, 4-1, and 3-2), No. 9 Cal (5-0), No. 5 Hawaii (5-0 5-0, and 4-1).
• Prior to the Hawaii tournament, Nebraska only had one loss, a 3-2 setback to Concordia on March 1 in San Diego.
ABOUT COLORADO MESA
• Colorado Mesa brings a 1-2 record into the tournament against Long Beach State.
• The Mavericks opened the year at the end of February with a pair of setbacks to No. 14 Arizona (5-0) and Boise State (5-0), before picking up their first win of the year against Benedictine at Mesa (3-2).
• The Mavericks will play their first match in nearly a month against No. 13 Loyola Marymount on Wednesday, March 20 at CSUN, before heading to Long Beach.
ABOUT STANFORD
• Stanford is 4-7 on the season and coming off of a 4-1 win against San Jose State on March 10.
• The Cardinal will have a 13-day break between matches before coming to Long Beach.
• After opening the year with four straight losses, the Cardinal has gone 4-3 in the month of March.

• Following the tournament at Rosie's Dog Beach, Long Beach State will host Oregon and Concordia at the LBSU Sand Courts on Wednesday, March 27.
