No. 9 Beach Volleyball Hosts Irvine Valley, Missouri State on Thursday

LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 9 Long Beach State hosts a pair of matches this week at the LBSU Sand Courts as the Beach welcome Irvine Valley College for a noon contest, before taking on Missouri State at 2 p.m.
ABOUT THE BEACH
• Long Beach State is 5-3 on the year and owns a 3-0 record when playing at home
• The Beach have picked up home wins over Cal State LA (5-0), No. 15 Stetson (4-1), and No. 12 Loyola Marymount (3-2).
• LBSU is looking to get back on the winning track after dropping its last two matches to No. 15 Stetson (3-2) and No. 4 Florida State (5-0).
• Long Beach State moved to No. 9 in the AVCA Coaches' Poll after going 2-2 last week.
LAST WEEK
The Beach went 2-2 last week as they defeated No. 15 Stetson (4-1) and No. 12 Loyola Marymount (3-2) at the LBSU Sand Courts, before dropping a pair of matches to Stetson (3-2) and No. 4 Florida State (5-0) at USC.
Playing at No. 1, senior Megan Kruidhof and sophomore Mari Molina went 3-1 on the week as the pair picked up two wins against Stetson and a victory over LMU, before pushing Florida State's top flight to three sets in the pair's lone loss of the week.
ABOUT IRVINE VALLEY
• Irvine Valley College comes into the match against Long Beach State ranked No. 5 in the AVCA/CCCAA Poll.
• The Lasers are 4-2 on the year after having defeated Cypress (4-1) and suffering a 5-0 loss to Arizona last week.
MISSOURI STATE
• Missouri State brings a 1-5 record to Long Beach as the Bears' lone win of the season came earlier this week against Hope International (4-1) and Vanguard (3-2).
• The Bears opened the season dropping four straight matches to No. 19 Grand Canyon (5-0), No. 16 George State (4-1), No. 17 Tulane (3-2), and TCU (3-2) at the Horned Frogs Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.
• Following the match against Vanguard, Missouri State will spend the week in California going up against Vanguard, CSUN, Long Beach State, Golden West College, Irvine Valley, Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount, and Concordia.

• Long Beach State has a busy week coming up. The Beach will host No. 5 Pepperdine at the LBSU Sand Courts, before welcoming Washing, Nebraska, Colorado Mesa, Stanford, and CSU Bakersfield to Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach, Calif., on March 22 and 23.
