Beach Golf Concludes Day One at Wildcat Invitational

Long Beach State concluded the first two rounds of action at the Wildcat Invitational at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson on Monday, sitting in 12th place in a talented field that features six ranked teams.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Long Beach State played 36 holes at Sewailo Golf Club on Monday, completing the first two rounds of the Wildcat Invitational. There were tough scoring conditions with only two players finishing under par on the day and the leading teams were tied at +18 after two rounds.
Long Beach State sits in 12th after day one and is four shots out of the Top 10, competing against a strong field with six nationally-ranked teams. Junior Maria Davis led the way in the first round for LBSU, shooting a 2-over 74 to record the low round of the day for Long Beach State.
Senior Haley Tygret was consistent in her two rounds, shooting a pair of 77's to sit tied for 40th place on the leaderboard. She's joined in that spot by Beach freshman Hannah Ko, who shot a 76 and a 78, respectively.
Only 23 of the 92 golfers had a better score in their second round on Monday, but one of them was junior Holland Shourds, who shaved six shots off her opening round mark to shoot a team-leading 77 in round two.
Action will resume at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start for Tuesday's final round.
