SEATTLE, Wash. – LBSU concluded competition at the 2019 MPSF Indoor Championships on Saturday at the University of Washington. Nine athletes scored points for Long Beach State on day two of competition.

The women's team finished in ninth out of 22 teams with 27 points while the men's team placed 11th with a total of 35 points.

LBSU had a pair of point scorers in the men's heptathlon as John Broadhead placed third in this event for the second year in a row with a new personal best of 5,286 points moving up to third in school history. Followed was Derreck Affor in sixth place with a PR of 8.17 in the 60-meter hurdles and a total of 4,982 points, moving to fifth on the all-time list.

In the field, senior Bria Palmer set the tone for the days' events by finishing second in the women's high jump and tying her own personal-record with a clearance of 5-10.50. Her performance brought in eight points, adding to LBSU's team total and also holding on to her fourth spot on the all-time list.

On the track, Courtne' Davis placed third in the 60-meter dash, adding on six more points for LBSU and finished with a total of 14 points individually. She clocked a time of 7.36 to break her own school record that was set at the 2018 Air Force Invitational. In the 400-meters, LeNaya Griffin ran a time of 57.94 to place second in her heat and finish with a new indoor personal-best time.Â

On the men's side, senior Vincent Calhoun recorded a new indoor PR in the high jump, clearing the bar set at 6-11.75. That mark keeps him at fourth in school history and also earned him a fourth-place finish and five points in the event. Blair Robinson finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 49-02.25.

On the track, school record holder in the long jump; Kemonie Briggs ran a new indoor PR in the 400-meters. He finished in eighth and ran 47.35, setting the third fastest time in school history. Braedon Kraft finished 12th in the 800-meters, running an indoor PR of 1:52.96 to make him eighth in school history. The men's 4x400m relay team set of Briggs, Babineaux, Johnson, and Winters finished sixth with a time of 3:13.85 to earn three points to LBSU's team total. That time moves to the third-fastest on the all-time list.

Next up on the schedule is the start of the outdoor track & field season which gets underway with the Beach Opener Mar. 1-2 at Jack Rose Track.
