Play Suspended During Second Round of Rebel Beach Invitational

Day one of the Rebel Beach Invitational was cut short as action was halted during the second round of play due to darkness. Senior Cara Barker led the Beach with a 1-over round of 73 in the first round and she was tied for 10th after the first day of competition.
LAS VEGAS – The first day of competition at the Rebel Beach Invitational was cut short due to darkness, leaving plenty of action for Tuesday. When play was stopped in the early stages of round two, Long Beach State was in eighth place, just three strokes outside of the Top 5. Senior Cara Barker had the low score of the day for the Beach, shooting a 1-over 73 in the first round and finishing the day at 2-over for the competition.
Barker currently sits in a tie for 10th on the player leaderboard with plenty of golf left to play on Tuesday. She had a solid back nine in her opening round, collecting birdies on No. 12 and No. 18 to pace LBSU after 18 holes.
Freshman Hunter Pate and junior Maria Davis are both 4-over for the tournament and sit in a tie for 24th after day one. Among individuals, freshman Hannah Ko had a strong day and is in a tie for 14th on the leaderboard with a score of 2-over. Ko led the Beach with three birdies in the opening round and she leads all other individual competitors by three strokes.
Play will resume at 8:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday with the conclusion of round two. Teams will then go right into the third and final round at Spanish Trail Country Club.
