Late Push by Pepperdine Results In Close Loss for the Beach

Long Beach State losses to Pepperdine 10-9.
Malibu, Calif.—No. 8 Long Beach State (14-12, 1-3 GCC) was defeated by Pepperdine (21-7, 3-1 GCC) on Saturday afternoon, 10-9, at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.
Long Beach started the game with an offensive edge as they outscored the Waves 2-1 in the first quarter and 4-3 in the second quarter. Scoring efforts from Quinten Osborne, Theodoros Pateros, Eduardo Wainberg, Austin Stewart and Nemanja Bakic helped the Beach gain the lead going into the second half 6-4.
The Waves outscored the Beach 4-2 in the third quarter to tie the game up, 8-8, going into the fourth quarter. In the final period, the Waves scored twice while holding Long Beach to just one goal to edge out a 10-9 victory.
Austin Stewart, Theodoros Pateros and Nemanja Bakic all scored twice for the Beach as Alessio Brunochelli, Eduardo Wainberg and Quinten Osborne contributed one goal in the loss.
The Beach will play their final two regular season games on the road next week against Loyola Marymount on Thursday and UC Irvine on Saturday.
