Beach Tennis Hosting Fall Tournament This Weekend

Long Beach State women’s tennis will continue its fall schedule on its home courts this weekend, with the Beach Tennis Fall Tournament hosted at Rhodes Tennis Center. The tournament will run from Friday-Sunday, with four singles flights and two doubles flights.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Beach will host its annual Beach Tennis Fall Tournament this weekend at Rhodes Tennis Center, welcoming in competitors from Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, LMU, Portland, UC Riverside, UC Irvine and Washington State.

The Beach will have all seven players competing this weekend, fielding three doubles teams. Natalia Munoz, Zara Lennon and Wiktoria Rutkowska will be in the top singles flight (Flight A), Emma Bardet, Sadaf Sadeghvaziri and Lalita Devarakonda will compete in Flight B, and Carlota Casasampere will play in Flight C for the Beach.

Each of the first three singles flights are full 16-player draws, while the fourth singles flight (Flight D) is a four-player draw. There are 13 pairs in the top doubles flight and 12 in the second flight. The Beach will keep one of its doubles teams intact from the season-opening tournament—Rutkowska/Bardet—and they will be joined in Flight A by the new team of Munoz and Lennon. In the second flight, the new pair of Sadeghvaziri and Devarakonda will represent Long Beach State.

Play will begin on Friday morning at 10 a.m., with action starting at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Doubles will come first followed by singles action. This year's tournament will once again coincide with the Long Beach Marathon on Sunday morning.
