Play was shortened to one round due to rain in Washington.
SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Clichés came true Tuesday as play was shortened to just one round at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational after an extended weather delay at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash, proving it does always rain in Seattle.
The Beach closed the day in a tie for sixth place, closing the round after a weather delay of around four hours.
Sophomore Hunter Pate finished the day in the team lead, shooting one-over on the back nine to close the day with a four-over par 76, tied for 14th place overall. Fellow Sophomore Hannah Ko was next, one stroke behind with a 77.
Senior Euna Pak shot a six-over par 78 on day one, while Holland Shourds and freshman Vanessa Richiani were one stroke further back, tied for 34th overall after a first round 79.
Long Beach State closed the day in a tie for sixth place with Idaho in the 11-team field. UC Davis and hosts Washington led the tournament after one round, while the Beach is four strokes back of BYU in fifth.
Wednesday's action will include only the originally scheduled one round of play, marking the second time this year that the team will play in a shortened event. The action can be followed live Wednesday at http://www.golfstat.com.
