Beach Tennis Wraps Successful Fall Tourney With Three Flight Wins

Long Beach State picked up three title match wins on Sunday at Rhodes Tennis Center as the Beach claimed the Flight B singles, Flight C singles and Flight B doubles titles at the 2019 Beach Tennis Fall Tournament.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Beach hosted its annual fall tournament at Rhodes Tennis Center this weekend, claiming three titles along with a consolation crown to conclude a successful event.

Sadaf Sadeghvaziri continued her terrific start to the season, winning the Flight B singles title with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Yang Lee from Washington State. She also partnered with Lalita Devarakonda to claim the Flight B doubles crown, thanks to a 6-3 win over Elanova/Schuster from Portland. Sadeghvaziri is now off to a 13-0 start to her season, going 7-0 for the weekend to lead the Beach's efforts.

The Beach also won a title in Flight C singles, where Carlota Casasampere finished off her unbeaten run with a 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory over Jadie Acidera of Cal State Fullerton. That keeps Casasampere unbeaten on the season as well, going 4-0 in singles play so far.

In Flight A, Zara Lennon claimed her third consecutive singles win following her opening round defeat. Lennon was a comfortable 6-0, 6-2 winner over Emily Soares in the Flight A consolation championship.

In extra matches outside of bracket play, Lalita Devarakonda was a straight-set winner, 6-2, 6-2, and the doubles team of Wiktoria Rutkowska and Emma Bardet won 6-3 over a Washington State pair.

Next on the docket for Long Beach State is the ITA Southwest Regionals starting on Thursday, followed by the CSUN Fall Tournament Nov. 8-10.
