Freshman Hunter Pate led Long Beach State with a 3-over round of 75 to finish in a tie for sixth at Monday’s four-way individual competition at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- Long Beach State opened its spring season on Monday, hosting individuals from three other schools at the Mission Hills Invitational. Freshman Hunter Pate was the top performer for the Beach, finishing in a tie for sixth place with a 3-over round of 75 at Mission Hills Country Club.
Junior Holland Shourds shot a 77 for the Beach in the one-round competition, junior Euna Pak checked in with a 78, and four Beach golfers shot a 79 on Monday—senior Cara Barker, junior Maria Davis, freshman Hannah Son, and senior Haley Tygret.
The low rounds on Monday were shared by Idaho's Vicky Tsai and New Mexico State's Pun Chanachai, who each shot a 1-under 71.
Long Beach State will continue its spring season at the Rebel Beach Invitational, Feb. 18-19 at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas. The three-round event will be co-hosted by Long Beach State and UNLV.
