No. 14 Long Beach State Falls To No. 5 Hawaii

Honolulu, Hawaii - In a nightcap Saturday night against No. 5 Hawaii No. 14 Long Beach State battled but ultimately fell to the Big West leading, Rainbow Wahine 12-6.

Both teams stated the game early on and Hawaii got out to a 4-2 lead after the first quarter. In the period, Virginia Smith and Marilia Eleni Mimidi each scored.

In the second period it was a defensive battle as neither team scored to go into the second half.

Hawaii began to pull away in the third quarter as it outscored the Beach (11-12, 2-2) 5-1. Annabel Harman scored LBSU's lone goal in the period on a powerplay.

In the fourth quarter, LBSU scored three goals, but it wasn't enough as the Rainbow Wahine also scored three to take the win.

In the final period Smith scored her second goal on a power play while Raney Remme netted two goals on a powerplay and a backhand shot after stealing possession from Hawaii's goalie.
