
No. 14 Long Beach State Falls To No. 4 UCLA

Los Angeles, Calif. — On the road No. 14 Long Beach State was unable to mount the comeback as the Beach fell to No. 4 UCLA 9-4 Saturday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Center.
Early in the first period both teams kept each other off the scoreboard, but UCLA broke through when Grace Reego scored to give the Bruins (19-3) a 1-0 lead with 3:16 remaining.
UCLA added one more goal with 52 seconds remaining in the first to take a 2-0 into the second quarter.
Tori Morrissey scored on a 5-meter penalty shot to give LBSU (9-11) its first goal of the game. That was it for the Beach in the first half as they trailed UCLA 5-1 at halftime.
In the third period UCLA scored two more goals to take a 7-1 lead heading into the final period.
In the final eight minutes, LBSU outscored UCLA 3-2, but it wasn't enough as the Beach fell to UCLA.
In the fourth period, Raney Remme, Alexandra Massier and Morrissey scored to cut into UCLA's lead.
Eirini Patras collected 10 saves in the cage.
