Water Polo Opens Up Wolverine Invitational With Win

Ann Arbor, Mich. - Opening up play at the Wolverine Invitational, No. 17 Long Beach State defeated Azusa Pacific 9-4.
Maria Eleni Mimidi led the way for the Beach (4-8) with three goals.
In the first period, Tori Morrisey gave LBSU an early 1-0 lead after the first quarter after she netted a goal on a counter attack.
Azusa Pacific scored its first goal in the second quarter, but LBSU scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead thanks to Mimidi and Annabel Harman.
LBSU's offensive onslaught wasn't done there as the Beach scored four more goals in the third period to take a 7-2 lead.
In the third period, Harman, Raney Remme, Bridget Reynolds and Olivia Grim each found the back of the cage.
In the final period, Mimidi scored two more times on power plays to give the Beach the 9-4 victory.
LBSU will be back in the pool for two games on Saturday when it takes on Bucknell at 10:20 a.m. and No. 9 Michigan 5:25 p.m.
