
No. 19 Long Beach State Falls To No. 9 Michigan

Newport Beach, Calif. - On the second day of the Barbara Kulbus Invitational, No. 19 Long Beach State battled with No. 9 Michigan.
The Beach took an early lead but was unable to mount a comeback losing the match 8-6.
In the first quarter, the Beach (1-8) took a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Annabel Harman, Virginia Smith and Raney Remme.
To start the second quarter Michigan's Caroline Anderson scored to cut the Beach's lead to 3-2.
The Beach answered back on Smith's second goal of the match gave to take a 4-2 lead with 6:55 remaining in the first half.
Both teams scored one more goal in the period including Remme who netted her second goal of the match to give LBSU a 5-3 lead at halftime.
The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game as the Beach went scoreless and Michigan scored four unanswered goals to take a 7-5 lead heading into the final period.
In the final period Smith scored her third goal of the match, but Michigan also scored one to take the 8-6 victory.
