Men’s Water Polo Lined Up For Five Games In NorCal This Weekend, Including MPSF Invite

Long Beach State Men’s Water Polo will look to open up their NorCal trip with an upset against No. 3 Stanford.
STANFORD, Calif. -- Long Beach State will open up their road trip with a matchup against No. 3 Stanford on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. The match against Stanford will not be a part of the MPSF Invite. LBSU will be looking to end their four game losing streak with a major win.
On Friday, LBSU will open up the MPSF Invite, which will be held in Stanford, Calif., as they face off against No. 9 UC Davis at 2:50 p.m. Afterwards, Long Beach State will have a doubleheader on Saturday and a final game on Sunday. Their opponents will vary depending on the results of their prior games. The Beach could meet up against familiar faces in the MPSF Invite, including UCLA, Pepperdine, Cal, and UC San Diego.
LBSU has participated in the MPSF invite the past two seasons going 2-2 in both of those appearances. Last year, the Beach won their games against Princeton and UC Irvine, while dropping the games against Stanford and Pacific.
With a little over half the season left, the Beach is led by junior Austin Stewart who has 20 goals and six assists on the season. Stewart is followed by senior Chandler Kaltenbach who has 16 goals and one assist on the season. Senior Keegan Wicken (14 goals), junior Johnathan Wong (12 goals), and senior Austin Stevenson (12 goals) top the list in goals.
No. 3 Stanford is coming off an upset against No. 1 USC, while UC Davis is coming off a victory against Concordia.
