LBSU Women’s Golf in Fourth Place After Two Rounds in Santa Ana

Long Beach State opened the UC Irvine Invitational on Monday, and sits in fourth place after 36 holes at the Santa Ana Country Club.
SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Senior Cara Barker was 2-under on the day to lead Long Beach State to fourth place after two rounds at the UC Irvine Invitational. Barker is currently in a tie for ninth among individuals, shooting a 2-under round of 70 in round one before shooting even par over her second 18 holes.
The Beach is two shots back of second place, where Cal Baptist and Santa Clara are tied for that position with one round to play on Tuesday. Barker started out 2-over through seven holes in round one, but was able to birdie four of the next seven holes to move two shots below par and into a tie for third place through 18 holes.
Senior Haley Tygret was even par in both rounds and sits in a tie for 13th place. Junior Euna Pak finished the day one shot over par, and is in a tie for 15th place. A total of nine golfers took the course for the Beach on Monday, including four who competed as individuals. Freshman Hunter Pate leads that group, sitting in a tie for 34th with a score of 5-over on the day.
Action resumes with the final round of the tournament on Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. at the Santa Ana Country Club.
