Beach women’s golf concluded its fourth tournament of the season with a fourth place finish in Nevada, led by a 2-under round of 70 from junior Euna Pak in Tuesday’s final round.
BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Long Beach State women's golf finished in fourth place at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, hosted by UNLV at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Beach shot 8-under for the tournament, finishing with a total of 856 to hold off Idaho in fifth place by just one stroke. It's LBSU's best finish of the season, taking fourth out of 17 teams at the event.
Junior Euna Pak had the best final round for the Beach, shooting a 2-under 70 to finish 5-under for the tournament. Pak never went over par in any of her three rounds and finished tied for 11th on the leaderboard.
Joining her in 11th place was classmate Maria Davis, who stayed in the red all week and posted a 1-under round of 71 on Tuesday. The finish is the best of Davis' career in tournament play, besting her 17th place finish at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in her collegiate debut back in 2016.
Also shooting below par on Tuesday was senior Haley Tygret, who shaved another shot off her round to post a 71 and finish even par for the tournament. That mark left her in a tie for 21st, where she joined freshman Hannah Ko, who played as an individual this week. Ko shot an even par 72 in the final round and comfortably finished as the top individual golfer at the event.
Next up for the Beach will be the team's first tournament in California this season. LBSU opens the two-day UC Irvine Invitational on Monday, Oct. 29 at the Santa Ana Country Club in the team's final competition of 2018.
