
Beach Golf Sits in Fourth Heading into Final Round in Vegas

Junior Maria Davis shot her career low for the second straight day to sit in a tie for 8th place through two rounds of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Long Beach State had four players shoot par or better on Monday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, putting the Beach in fourth place on the team leaderboard heading into Wednesday's final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout.
Junior Maria Davis had another strong day, matching the career-best round that she shot yesterday with a score of 2-under 70 on Monday. Her overall score of 4-under leads the way for Long Beach State through 36 holes and she's in a tie for eighth among individuals. She was 2-under through the first 15 holes in her round before alternating a bogey and a birdie on 16 and 18, respectively. Davis has made a total of 28 pars through the first two rounds, which is the second most of the 85-player field and just one shy of the leader.
Senior Cara Barker shot 1-under on Monday, shaving a shot off of her score from the opening round to sit in a tie for 20th place. She's two shots back of junior Euna Pak, who shot an even-par round of 72 on Monday to sit 3-under for the tournament in a tie for 11th. Senior Haley Tygret was the other scorer for the Beach in round two, also shooting an even round by starting and finishing with a birdie.
Entering Tuesday's final round, the Beach sits just four shots back of Augusta in third place and nine shots back of Tulsa in second. LBSU will also look to hold off Idaho, which sits just one shot back in fifth place.
The third and final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown will start at 8 a.m. PT on Tuesday with a shotgun start.
