FIRST TEE
The Long Beach State men's golf team travels to the Grand Canyon state to take part in the Cowboy Classic hosted by the University of Wyoming, Apr. 6-7, at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday, Apr. 6 with first and second round action, followed by final round play concluding on Tuesday, Apr. 7. Both days will start at 7:30 a.m. (PST).
WYOMING FIELD
LBSU will be among a 20-team field at the Cowboy Classic in Arizona. The 49ers will go up against Wyoming, UC Santa Barbara, Colorado, Santa Clara, McNeese State, UC Davis, Gonzaga, Idaho, Air Force, Weber State, Southern Utah, UC Irvine, UTPA, San Francisco, James Madison, Western Kentucky, Utah State, Nevada and CSUN.

STARTING FIVE
Seniors JJ Holen and Kevin Techakanokboon, juniors Daniel Chian and Kevin Lee and freshman Austin Orkin will represent the 49ers.
LAST TIME OUT
The 49ers are coming off from a 12th place finish at the 15-team Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz. LBSU completed the 54-hole tournament at 4-over 868. Senior Kevin Techakanokboon was the top player for the 49ers, tying for 26th at 3-under 213.
JOHN WURZER NAMED ASSISTANT COACH
Former LBSU men's golfer John Wurzer returns to the Beach as an assistant coach for the 49ers. Wurzer comes to LBSU after spending four years as Director of Golf Operations and assistant coach at USC. He helped the USC men's & women's teams achieve top 20 rankings and helped assemble elite recruiting classes. Before arriving at USC, Wurzer was the head golf coach at nearby Torrance High for nine seasons (2000-08), where he led the Tartars to the 2005, 2007 and 2008 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Girls Golf Championships. Wurzer is a 2006 graduate from LBSU where he was a four-year letterwinner on the men's golf team under former head coach Bob Livingstone. During his career at the Beach, Wurzer recorded seven top-10 performances and captured the 1996 CSUN Bill Cullum Invitational. John is a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level-3 Certified Golf Fitness Instructor and a Certified Golfing Machine Instructor (GSEM).
BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO THE CENTRAL COAST
The 2015 Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship will be contested at the San Luis Obispo Country Club in San Luis Obispo, Apr. 26-28, hosted by Cal Poly.
