Long Beach, Calif. - Junior Darian Tautalafua was named the Big West Field Player of the Week after leading the 49ers to a trio of wins at the Louisville Slugger Invitational, including a 5-4 win over No. 12 UCLA.
Tautalafua hit safely in all five games for Long Beach State last weekend, hitting .438 (7-for-16) with four walks, a double and three home runs.
Slugging 1.063 for the weekend, Tautalafua pulled to within one homer of the LBSU career record with home runs in wins over Seattle and in a 3-1 win over Southern Utah, as well as a long ball against Stanford in an extra-innings loss.
Tautalafua scored three runs in the win over Seattle, and against the Bruins, went 2-for-2 with two walks, 2 RBI and a double as the Beach downed ranked UCLA.
This award marks the third time in her career that Tautalafua has been named Big West Player of the Week, as she earned the award twice as a freshman on the way to Big West Freshman of the Year honors. Tautalafua is the first Long Beach State player honored by the conference in 2015.
