Kassidy Teare Wins Ron Moore Intercollegiate Title

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - Senior Kassidy Teare continued her stellar play into Sunday's final round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at Highlands Ranch Golf Club, firing a 3-under-par 69 to capture individual medalist.
Teare held off Santa Clara's Monique Riley for the one-shot victory to post her first tournament win as a 49er. Teare completed the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 8-under 208.
Long Beach State posted a final round score of 291 to finish in fifth at 9-over 873. The 49ers finished one shot behind fourth-place Colorado State (+8) and three strokes behind Washington State (+6) in third.
Tournament host Denver jumped in the standings by two spots to win the team title at 2-under 862. The Pioneers won by five shots over second-place San Francisco (+3).
Teare's final round scorecard was nearly identical to her second round on Saturday. The Vista, Calif., native started the final day from the par-4 third hole. She would go even on her first three holes, posting her first birdie on the sixth, bogeying the seventh and birding the ninth.
As Teare made the turn onto the back-nine, she would collect her second consecutive birdie on the 10th and go bogey-free on her remaining 10 holes. Teare closed out the final hole with her fourth birdie of the day on the par-5 No. 2.
Sophomore Jennifer Yu recorded her best score of the tournament, carding a 72 for a 5-over 221, tying for 25th.
Senior Shawnee Martinez shot a high round 77 to finish with a 54-hole score of 7-over 223, tying for 32nd.
Redshirt sophomore Savannah Knox posted her best round of the tournament, shooting a 73 to tie for 37th at 8-over 224.
Senior Janelle Sua tied for 64th after carding an 80 to finish at 13-over.
Sophomore Felicia Taverrite and freshman Breann Fox, playing as individuals for the 49ers, tied for 53rd and 82nd. Taverrite recorded her best score of the tournament with a final round 74 to finish at 11-over 227, while Fox turned in a 79 for a 13-over 229.
LBSU returns to action Oct. 25 for their last tournament of the fall season, taking part in the three-day Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Boulder City, Nev., hosted by UNLV.
