Kassidy Teare Tied For Eighth After Opening Round at Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

LBSU posted an opening round score of four-under 284, tying with Minnesota.
Michigan and San Jose State share the top spot with a 13-under 275 as the Wolverines and Spartans lead the field of 19 teams by two shots over third-place Missouri (-11) and three strokes over Nebraska (-10) in fourth.
Starting from the par-three eighth hole, Teare went bogey-free on her first seven holes, collecting two consecutive birdies on Nos. 12 and 13. The Vista, Calif. native picked up two bogeys on the 15th and 17th holes, closeing out the back-nine at even. As she came onto the front-nine, she would collect her third birdie of the day and score her first of two eagles on the par-five Nos. 2 and 5. Teare closed out the round with three consecutive pars to go four-under.
Redshirt sophomore Savannah Knox fired a two-under 70 tying for 25th. Knox recorded five birdies and 10 pars for the day.
Sophomore Jennifer Yu shot a 75 tying for 86th.
The Spartans' My Leadner sits on top of the leaderboard of 105 players at seven-under 65, holding a one-shot lead over fellow teammate Elizabeth Schultz.
Second round play continues on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. LBSU will be paired with Texas and Colorado State from holes 8-10.

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Long Beach State senior Kassidy Teare fired a four-under-par 68 in Sunday's opening round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club, tying for eighth-place and leading the 49ers to a 12th place tie.
LBSU posted an opening round score of four-under 284, tying with Minnesota.
