LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State tennis sophomore and reigning Big West Player of the Year Maeva Razakasoa was invited to the prestigious ITA All-American Tournament and will begin competition this weekend in the Pre-Qualifying rounds. The tournament begins on Saturday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Razakasoa, a sophomore from Cranves-Sales France, is coming off a superb freshman season at the Beach in which she became the second player ever to earn the Big West Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. In order for Razakasoa to advance from the Pre-Qualifying rounds and into the Qualifying Rounds, she will have to win three matches and reach the Quarterfinals. The road starts with one of the 9-16 seeds, Alyssa Smith from Duke.
The match will be at 8:30 a.m. at the Riviera Tennis Club's Sunset Rec Center. The winners will play in the second round later in the day at 1:30 p.m.
