LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Long Beach State men won the team title, while the women claimed runner-up honors at the Cal-Nevada Championships Saturday at UC San Diego's Triton Track & Field Stadium.

The 49er men compiled 164.5 points to finish with a commanding 75.5 point advantage over second-place UCSD. The women racked up 123 points to come in behind four-time defending champion San Diego State.

Jacob Fraser was named the Outstanding Men's Field Athlete of the Meet, while Andy Sythe was tabbed the Men's Coach of the Meet.

Fraser picked up his second individual victory of the weekend as he won the discus with a lifetime-best 189-05. That mark ranks eighth in school history. Jason Harrell made it a one-two finish for The Beach with a toss of 189-01.

Willie Alexander, who took home the long jump title on Friday, was the runner-up in the triple jump at 48-00.75.

Brandon Hierholzer (T5th) and Conner Rouse (T7th) both scored in the pole vault, clearing 15-05. Quentin Shropshire also put points on the board with a seventh-place showing in the high jump as he registered a personal-record 6-04.75.

On the track, Dylan McCloskey won the 400m in a time of 48.30 seconds, and Jahmani Lockett took third (48.66). Cameron Glasgow notched a personal-best 21.30 to finish second in the 200m. He was followed by Michael Perez-Rogers in third (21.55).

Devin Hickey was the runner-up in the 110m hurdles at 14.31 seconds, while Koree Hines came in fourth (14.44). Cody Smith also placed second in the 400m hurdles with a lifetime-best 53.05. He was joined in the finals by teammates Adonis Singletary (6th), Bryce Van Boxtel (7th) and Ryan Petrella (8th).

Cameron Ford posted his second personal record on the weekend, clocking in at 4:01.62 to finish 14th overall in the 1500m.

Perez-Rogers, Van Boxtel, Lockett and McCloskey also teamed up to win the 4x400 relay in 3 minutes, 13.01 seconds, while the 4x100 squad took second at 41.34 seconds.

On the women's side, Emily Cooper earned an individual victory in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 24.07 seconds. Kayla Goosby also came in sixth (24.79), while adding a lifetime-best 11.97 in the 100m where she claimed runner-up honors. Goosby's 100m mark ranks 10th in school history.

Amber Clark (100m Hurdles) and Saedra Wright (400m) both had fifth-place performances in their respective events.

In the relays, Goosby, Cooper, Jasmine Askew and Wright took top honors in the 4x100 (46.50), while Cooper, Askew, Alex Kruthers and Wright were second in the 4x400 (3:44).

Catherine Martinez scored in the 1500m as she came in third with a time of 4:36.41.

In the field events, Aundrea Yancy had a pair of top-10 finishes. She tied for second in the high jump with a personal-best 5-08 and took ninth in the triple jump at 37-08.5.

Marina Shelton (173-11) and Fatima Vergara (167-00) both scored in the hammer throw, placing third and fourth, respectively. Vergara was also fourth in the shot put, behind teammate Brianna Viltz, who was third. Viltz notched the 10th-best mark in school history at 46-00.75, while Vergara also had a personal-record 45-05.75.

Long Beach State returns to action next Friday, April 11, when it makes the short trip to Irvine for the Big West Challenge.
