HONOLULU - The No. 12 Long Beach State women's water polo team suffered a 12-3 defeat to No. 1 USC on Saturday to conclude its trip to the islands. The nation's top-ranked team and defending national champs jumped out to an early lead and never let the Beach (15-8) back in the game.

LBSU received goals from three different players in the loss but all came in the second half. USC (17-0) scored the first nine goals of the game and held the beach scoreless until the end of the third. Trailing 9-0, Christina Kotsia finally broke LBSU's scoring silence when she scored with just over three minutes left.

USC scored three goals in each quarter to secure the win but Long Beach State was able to strike twice in the final minute. Justine Morgan scored with 49 seconds left and Chelsea Parks scored with 11 seconds left for the 49ers final tally.

The Beach returns home next Friday to take on Hartwick at 6 p.m. in the Campus Pool.
