Women's Water Polo Ranked 11th In CWPA Preseason Poll

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - The Long Beach State women's water polo team will begin the 2014 season ranked 11th, according to the national poll released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association. In landing at No. 11 in the preseason poll, The Beach has its highest preseason national ranking since starting the 2006 season at No. 7.
LBSU landed in the middle of all seven Big West squads that cracked the top-20. UC Irvine garnered a No. 6 ranking with to lead the conference while Hawai'i came in at No. 7. Cal State Northridge landed at No. 14, UC Santa Barbara was 17th and UC Davis was 18th.
The defending national champs from USC claimed to top spot in the poll.
The Beach lost just two starters from last year's record-breaking team that went 25-7 and ended the season at No. 8. Chelsea Parks and Coriann Snyder combined for 99 goals last year and garnered some postseason accolades. They both return for their senior seasons as does Kelly Ringel in goal.
The Beach took fourth in the Big West in the regular season but pulled off the upset in the Big West Tournament to finish third.
The season begins on Jan. 25-26 when The Beach heads to Santa Barbara, Calif. for the UCSB Winter Invite.
