Women's Water Polo hosts UC San Diego on Saturday

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State returns home to the Campus Pool this weekend, as the 49ers host UC San Diego for the team's only match this weekend at Noon on Saturday.
The 49ers (2-3) posted a 2-2 record last weekend at the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, losing two matches to ranked opponents in Maryland and Hartwick by one goal apiece, but closing out the tournament with a win over Cal State East Bay in addition to an earlier win over Marist.
All three of the 49ers losses have come by just a single goal to ranked opponents this season. The 49ers finished ahead of the Tritons in last week's tournament, as UC San Diego (6-3) finished in 13th place with an identical 2-2 record after losing their first two matches of the weekend.
The Tritons are led by sophomore Sarah Lizotte, who has 34 goals in the team's nine games this season. Long Beach State is led by junior Melissa Matheson, who has scored 12 times in the team's first five games.
Following the match with UC San Diego, the 49ers have a scheduled an alumni match that will begin approximately at 2 p.m. The next home match for Long Beach State is schedule for March 15, when the 49ers will host Bucknell at 7 p.m. Next week, the 49ers travel to UC Irvine for four matches at the UC Irvine Invitational.
