IRVINE, Calif. - The Long Beach State track and field team wrapped up action at the 17th annual Asics Steve Scott Invitational Sunday at Anteater Stadium.

A day after finishing second in the hammer throw at the Drake Relays in Iowa, Colin Dunbar competed in the shot put, placing fourth with a lifetime-best 55-02.75. Rajan Bains added a sixth-place showing (51-02.25), while Austin Elmore was eighth with a season-long 48-11.50.

Cesar Puga (175-05) and Dunbar (171-01) were also sixth and eighth, respectively, in the discus.

Michael Vaughan finished fourth in the triple jump, registering a season-long 48-06.

Over on the track, Cameron Gillett took fourth in the 400m dash with a season-best 48.35. Koree Hines was also fourth in the 110m hurdles with a mark of 14.71 seconds.

Jonathan Evans placed fourth in the men's 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 1 minute, 53.68 seconds.

Matt Maldonado ran 3:56.94 in the 1500m, which was good enough for eighth overall.

Richard Crawford matched his season best of 21.85 in the 200m to finish 11th overall and Nathan Alade was right on his heels in 12th with a season-low 21.88.

On the women's side, Rosa Del Toro had a runner-up finish in the 1500m with a lifetime-best 4:30.28. Del Toro's mark moved her up two spots to No. 7 on the 49ers' all-time list. Jennifer Rodriguez also placed among the top 10 in the race with a time of 4:43.24.

Phylicia Johnson was LBSU's top finisher in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.40 seconds (fifth place). Shakina Phillips wasn't far behind in sixth place (14.55).

Phillips also registered a top 10 showing in the 400m hurdles as she clocked in at 62.40 for eighth place.

Jessica Barnard finished 10th in the 800-meter run, posting a season-best 2:12.98.

Saedra Wright (25.37) and Alex Kruthers (25.38) also notched season bests in the 200-meter dash.

In the high jump, Katrina Graves-Johnson cleared 5-07 to place fifth overall. Jillian Weir was also sixth in the shot put with a season-best toss of 45-06.50.

Nkechi Okonkwo had a season-long leap of 36-04.75 in the triple jump.

Long Beach State kicks off the Big West Championships next week with the decathlon and heptathlon, May 6-7, in Irvine. The remainder of the events will also be held in Irvine, May 13-14.
