Jones-Wesley named Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Freshman Erin Jones-Wesley has been named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week after picking up two wins in last weekend's Long Beach State Kick-Off Tournament.
Jones-Wesley (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos HS) beat Boise State 2-0 on both Saturday and Sunday. The true freshman blanked the Broncos on Saturday throwing a complete-game three-hitter, while striking out eight. On Sunday she went the distance holding BSU to just five hits while fanning eight. For the week she pitched 14 innings, allowed eight hits and struck out 16 while walking just three. Long Beach State finished the weekend 4-0 with two wins against Loyola Marymount as well.
Long Beach State travels to Las Vegas this weekend where the 49ers will face Hawaii and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville on Friday, Arkansas and Boise State on Saturday, and Utah on Sunday.
