IRVINE, Calif. - The Long Beach State women's cross country team received the fall sportsmanship award from Big West Conference Commissioner Dennis Farrell.
The Sportsmanship Award is voted upon by the respective student-athletes in each of the Big West's 16 championship sports. UC Riverside won the award in the sports of women's volleyball and men's cross country. It was the second consecutive year that the Highlander women's volleyball program was honored. UC Davis repeated as the sportsmanship award recipient in the sport of women's soccer. Cal Poly and Long Beach State were recognized as winners in men's soccer and women's cross country, respectively
"It is with the utmost appreciation to bestow the Sportsmanship Award on those programs who exemplify the best of ideals of conduct in competition," said Farrell. "To be honored by your peers among the five fall sports that we sponsor is a source of great pride."
