
Beach picks up first win at Triton Invitational

San Diego, Calif. - Long Beach State earned its first win Saturday as the 49ers defeated Redlands 10-5 at the Triton Invitational. The 49ers lost to CS Bakersfield in the team's first match of the game.
Long Beach State had two goals each from Miranda Furuto, Lauren Sieprath and Branwyn Lee against Redlands to pick up the win comeback victory. Trailing 3-1 after the first period, the 49ers cut the lead to one before halftime, and took the lead 5-4 on a Sieprath goal with 6:30 in the third period. The 49ers then exploded with five goals in the final quarter to put the match away.
The 49ers played CS Bakersfield in their opening match of the tournament and fell behind 3-2 in the first period on the way to a 10-5 loss. Chelsea Grabowski led the 49ers with two goals.
Long Beach State plays two more matches on Sunday, facing host UC San Diego in the first match of the day.
